ABOUT

A couple words about me and my journey.

Dmitriy Fedorov is an Russian musician, songwriter, producer and record engineer based in Moscow. The musical space in which Dmitriy’s works goes far beyond one particular genre. As a solo artist Dmitry works within rock, ambient, electronic and psychedelic genres.

Dmitriy:

My passion for music began at quite an early age. Basically it was all experiments. I did a lot of different records, studied and learned this fabulos science, learned to play various instruments. I always found something particularly musical in various noises that surrounded me.
The first time I heard the noise of vinyl records was at the age of four, and I was completely enthralled by it. I liked this noise. I accelerated or stopped the record and watched the result.
My musical experiments transformed to something more or less productive when I moved to Moscow in 2014. After moving I got the opportunity to build own project studio for creation of sound design, writing and recording music and for working on personal music projects.
I was born at the period of fusion of two technologies: analog and digital. I was inspired by warm analog sound, but at the same time I was attracted by mysteries and possibilities of digital sound. And I think that the best option is to find harmony between these two technologies and try to take and use the best from each one. I like to record any segment of sound, whether on the street or somewhere else, and then change it beyond recognition in my studio. You never know how unexpected the result can be. You just continue to work until you hear this: “Ok! This is what I like, hands off.”

One of Dmitriy’s earliest musical projects was the instrumental and psychedelic band Mellowne. Often the band was put sound and noise experiments on their own shows but unfortunately for a number of reasons it was never recorded their first album. After the the band split, Dmitriy moved to Moscow and continues to write music as a solo artist. His solo album called “Consistence” released in 2017 can be described as a searching for himself and own place. Recorded in Moscow in the own Dmitriy’s studio the album is truly personal and refined work with the main theme passing through the whole album. The title of the album, Consistence, gives a little hint that the listener should look into the depths, because the main dialog between the music and the listener takes place right there. Tight textures of atmospheric ambient which sometimes sounds like dark ambient, live acoustic and electric guitars and industrial elements are used to create really deep and dark mood. In between projects Dmitriy does several works on mixing and producing several artists.

But the love of rock music and live instruments makes itself felt. For self-expression in the field of progressive rock and art rock Dmitriy created a project called Migration Period. At the moment it is a studio project with several guest musicians. Work on the first album began in the beginning of 2017 in Dmitry’s own studio. The basis of the album was the songs written by Dmitry specifically for this project earlier in 2016 and the first demo recordings of Migration Period. Later, the project was joined guest musicians: Wojtek Deregowski (Drums), Sergey Gordeev (Drums and Percussion), Artem Lapin (Bass), Vadim Khvatyk (guitars), Sergey Silvachev (Fretless Bass) for recording drums, bass and additional parts. The result of almost a year of work in the Studio was the album Collapse.Ignore which will be released on September 30 on Floise Records own Dmitiry’s record label.
